Pete Doherty Tossed From Thai Rehab Facility Halfway Through Drug Treatment

Pete Doherty has left a drug rehab facility in Chiang Mai, Thailand after attending for three weeks and completing only half of his scheduled treatment. The former Libertines and Babyshambles frontman was asked to vacate the posh, $11,000-a-month facility called the Cabin for being disruptive to other patients.

“Pete was discharged today for therapeutic reasons,” said treatment program director Alastair Mordey. “It is important to maintain the integrity of the treatment program for the other clients to have a good chance of recovery. Pete understands this and therefore the reasons behind why we have asked him to leave.

“Although our parting with Pete is amicable, we are of course disappointed to see him leave,” continued Mordey. “We hope some of the things he has learnt here will help him in the future and look forward to the day when Pete decides to consider recovery again.”

Last month Doherty cancelled scheduled overseas performances at the T in the Park festival in Glasgow, the Super Bock Super Rock festival in Portugal and the Rock for People gathering in the Czech Republic so he could check himself into the Thai rehab shortly after confessing he was abusing drugs while on the set of the flick ‘Confession of a Child of the Century.’

Doherty, who has been in and out of treatment since 2004, reportedly has already left Thailand and is on a flight back to London. A spokesman for the singer declined comment as of press time.
