Director Joe Wright beefed up his upcoming Peter Pan movie, 'Pan,' with some well-known celebs, from Hugh Jackman to Garrett Hedlund to the newly cast Rooney Mara, but for the title role, he wanted some fresh blood -- and he got it! Young actor Levi Miller landed the role of the most famous crow-calling, pirate-grappling, high-flying kid from Neverland.

Variety broke the news of Miller's casting, which marks the child actor's first major role. To date, he only has a few credits to his name, including stints on FOX's 'Terra Nova' and two short films, 'Akiva' and 'Great Adventures.'

So far, cast in known roles are Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook and Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, the latter of which caused a bit of a controversy amongst fans due to the character's Native-American heritage.

Not too much is known about 'Pan,' other than some basic plot details: 'Pan' is "set during WWII and follows an orphan who is kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland, where he discovers he’s destined to save the land from the pirate Blackbeard," which already makes it seem like this'll be a slightly new direction for a Peter Pan adaptation. 'Ice Age: Continental Drift' writer Jason Fuchs penned the script, while Greg Berlanti (The CW's 'The Flash'), Paul Webster ('Anna Karenina') and Sarah Schechter are producing, and this film is reportedly a new take on this Lost Boy's origin.

'Pan' is slated to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
