Back in June 2013, Sony announced that its popular sci-fi MMO, Planetside 2, would be headed to the PS4. Originally planned as a launch title for Sony’s next-gen console, the port of the PC game has taken longer than expected. Sony, however, has remained dedicated to the project, and today IGN revealed that when it does make it to the PS4, Planetside 2 will run at 1080p resolution, and we’ll get our first look at E3 next month.

During a Twitch stream about Planetside 2, Sony Online Entertainment creative director, Matt Higby announced the game’s resolution. He also discussed the progress of the game’s port, stating that the company is still fine-tuning elements of the experience, including UI optimization and control mechanics.

No release date has been mentioned, but the game’s presence at E3 is a good sign that at least part of the PS4 version is playable. Hopefully we'll learn more about Sony's plans for the MMO at this year's show.
