Over the weekend, Lionsgate released some Power Rangers photos — of which the highlight was clearly Elizabeth Banks in the gloriously ridiculous role of the film’s villain, Rita Repulsa. If anyone can pull off an absurdly elaborate costume, it’s Banks, who basically proved herself to be the Lady Gaga of the acting world in The Hunger Games. But as this new photo from the upcoming reboot proves, sometimes it’s best to leave such insane wardrobe choices to the professionals. Or Joel Schumacher’s Batman movies.

The latest sneak peek at Power Rangers comes courtesy of USA Today’s Comic-Con 2016 preview, and offers a closer, more detailed look at the team’s new costumes:

I’ll give them this: It’s nearly impossible to describe the design choices here, so at least they’re…different? It looks like Joel Schumacher directed a live-action adaptation of an anime using late ’90s Trapper Keepers as his color inspiration. That’s the best I can do.

The photo features Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger and Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger. They’re joined by Banks, playing the role of classic series villain Rita Repulsa, and Bryan Cranston, who plays giant talking head / Rangers mentor Zordon. No matter how many times I type all of this out, I continue to be amazed that this is an actual movie that’s happening.

Power Rangers will appear at Comic-Con this week, and hits theaters on March 24, 2017.
