In my opinion 'Vulgar Display Of Power' is without a doubt one of the greatest albums ever released, and at a time when metal appeared to be dying. Or so the music industry thought.

The year was 1992 and I'll never forget the first time I heard it. For me it remains one of the most influential, groundbreaking and sonically defiant albums ever released, truly an epic magnum opus! Pantera's 'Vulgar Display Of Power' is one of my all time favorites. Hard to believe it's been twenty years since it was originally released on an unsuspecting world ill prepared for what was about to come.

In the early ninety's the music industry and most artists were rushing towards the "grunge" sound with bands like Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and even Metallica who changed direction to pursue what was more popular at the time. This left most fans including myself frustrated and wondering "What the hell has happen to metal?"

The answer came not from Seattle or Hollywood but from Arlington, Texas and was delivered with a big a middle finger! Pantera rose to the challenge and delivered despite trends and even industry opposition an album that took metal to all new levels and kept metal alive and well in those days, hell even today.
