All five members of Radiohead, the band’s crew and management joined hundred of other mourners at the Doncaster Minster church in Doncaster, England, for the funeral of drum tech Scott Johnson, who was killed when the stage collapsed prior to the band’s June 16 concert in Toronto. Members of Keane were also in attendance at the service, which featured an eulogy given by family friend Father David Dixon.

Father Carl Schaeffer, who conducted the funeral, talked about Scott’s “exceptional character” and mentioned a tribute from a friend that called him a “lovely man who was always positive, supportive and funny … highly skilled and valued for his work.” Scott’s love of music was reflected with the playing of several songs, including ‘Nothing Else Matters’ by Metallica, ‘Love is the End’ by Keane and ‘Love You So’ by Free.

Scott’s parents Ken and Sue were reportedly visibly moved by the service, as well as the outpouring of support from the capacity crowd in attendance. Ken noted that he was especially “touched” by a wreath of flowers sent to his son’s grave from Killers’ drummer Ronnie Vannucci.

Radiohead played for the first time since the stage accident on Tuesday (July 10) in Nimes, France, turning in a lengthy show that included a performance of the song ‘Reckoner’ dedicated to Scott and featuring photos of him on the stage’s LED screens during the song.
