Record Store Day: Guide to Hard Rock + Metal
Record Store Day is right around the corner, with plenty of specialty items heading to independent record stores. This year’s event takes place in participating stores on April 20 and a number of top acts are preparing fresh vinyl releases to attract fans to the old-school way of buying new music.
Artists from all genres are participating, but we’re focusing on the hard rock and metal acts who have specialty items heading to stores. Avenged Sevenfold are prepping a pair of offerings, including a unique ‘Carry On’ picture disc. Rob Zombie‘s got a 10-inch of his latest single, ‘Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown’ en route. Deftones are using Record Store Day to kick off a series of live vinyl releases, and acts like Soundgarden and Coheed and Cambria are giving fans a peek behind the curtain by offering some of their demos on vinyl for the first time.
Classic albums from Linkin Park, At the Drive-In, Mad Season, Porno for Pyros and Joan Jett are making their return on vinyl for the occasion. Plus, in addition to Deftones, there are live performance-centric offerings from Bon Jovi, Avenged Sevenfold, Imagine Dragons and Rocket from the Crypt heading to stores.
Start saving your money and circle April 20 on your calendar for the 2013 edition of Record Store Day. Check out the listing of some of hard rock and metal’s Record Store Day releases below:
