Few people realized that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were in the market for a new bass player, but current bassist Flea may have found his own replacement.

Recently Flea paid a visit to meet world famous gorilla Koko at The Gorilla Foundation in Woodland, CA. As it turns out, Koko, who is well known for speaking and understanding American sign language, plays a mean bass. In a clip from the visit, Flea handed his instrument over to Koko, and watches her strum a few chords and try to tune the bass.

"This is the greatest thing that could ever happen," Flea says. "This is the day I'll never forget in my life."

Koko first made a name for herself because she has reportedly learned over 1,000 signs and 2,000 English words. Flea also posted several images of his new bestie, including one which shows the two hugging. He captioned the photo "my sweet and true friend, Koko."
