Red Hot Chili Peppers to Perform Before Los Angeles Rams Home Opener

If there is one act who is as "Los Angeles" as they come, it's the "Californication" rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers, so it makes sense that the band will be on hand for the return of regular season NFL football to the City of Angels by way of the Los Angeles Rams this weekend.

According to the Associated Press, the Chili Peppers will perform at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum prior to the Los Angeles Rams Sunday (Sept. 18) home opener against the Seattle Seahawks. This will be the first NFL game to take place in the city of Los Angeles in 22 years. During the 1994 season, both the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Raiders exited the major market in favor of new starts in St. Louis and Oakland.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea stated, "Since I was a little boy, I've taken joy in the beauty of the Rams. When I moved to Los Angeles in 1972, I was getting uprooted from my home and I thought, 'Well, where I'm going they've got the Rams. It's going to be all right.'" Flea has been one of the biggest celebrity supporters of Los Angeles teams, especially the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team.
