Revocation are set to drop Great Is Our Sin, their sixth album, on July 22 through Metal Blade. The technical death thrash act have once again served up a weighty platter of blistering extreme metal with the new song "Profanum Vulgus," which can be heard below.

Opening with a dissonant series of chords, the atmosphere immediately spells gloom and doom. A sinister, sliding rhythm signals the verse, accentuated by mainman David Davidson's lower range guttural bark, quickly shifting into a frenetic Voivod inspired chorus and Davidson's signature shrieks. The tempo constantly shifts, manhandling the listener as Revocation become unpredictable in the most charming of ways.

Great Is Our Sin is the band's first concept record, using Charles Darwin's quote, “If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin," as a jumping off point. Running through themes that have left a black mark on mankind's collective conscience, the band explores medieval torture and even looks to the future and global warming on the closing track, "Cleaving Giants of Ice." Fans can pre-order the record at Metal Blade's webstore with a variety of options to choose from.

Revocation be on the road as part of the 2016 edition of the Summer Slaughter tour, which is headlined by death metal luminaries Cannibal Corpse. The trek will begin on July 23 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and come to an end in Atlanta, Ga. on Aug. 21. A full list of stops can be found at our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
