Ricky Gervais Offers Advice to Jimmy Fallon After Joke Falls Flat [VIDEO]

Jimmy Fallon, Ricky Gervais
NBC

According to Ricky Gervais, he didn’t have time to appear as a guest on last night’s ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.’ But he did find the time to plug a DVD box set of ‘The Office’ and heavily critique Jimmy Fallon’s performance during the opening monologue.

As Fallon told his opening jokes, Gervais appeared from backstage and quickly plugged the DVD. But then he lingered for a moment and, when a joke of Fallon’s fell flat, he offered helpful advice.

“It was shoddy,” Gervais said of the joke. “I mean, you know, you didn’t write it. But, do it like you were clever enough to come up with this joke yourself, okay?”
