One of the big things that make awards shows stand out is the unique collaborations that often come about thanks to many artists all being in the same place at the same time. The Alternative Press Music Awards just landed themselves one of those collaborations which will surely have fans buzzing as teen metal sensations Babymetal will take the stage with the "Metal God" himself, Judas Priest singer Rob Halford.

The announcement was made via a video on Billboard“Honestly, I am still at a loss of what to feel,” says Babymetal’s Su-metal. “But to be able to perform together with the Metal God, I am in disbelief.”

Halford adds, "It's really cool to hear and watch such a strong young Japanese metal band make solid growth in the world with such unique conviction and invite me to headbang along with them for this special appearance. Further proof of the continuing power exchange from the roots of metal into the future metalsphere!"

Babymetal have taken the world by storm over the last couple of years, winning over many in the rock and metal industry. At the 2015 Rock on the Range, the girls met Halford and his Judas Priest bandmates and posed for a photo with the metal legends.

One of their recent supporters has been Rob Zombie, who praised the girls despite the protests of some of his Facebook followers. When one follower called them an embarrassment to metal, Zombie responded, "Hey, they are nice kids out on the road touring. What are you doing besides being a grumpy old f--k?." He went on to add, "They roll harder than you," and "These three girls had more energy that 90 percent of the bands we play with" as the conversation continued. The girls went on to thank Zombie, stating, "Thank you Rob! The Spirit of HEAVY METAL traversed across the World, rose above language barriers, went beyond generations and created countless legends." Babymetal are currently promoting their Metal Resistance album, and the APMAs will be the band's first U.S. award show.

In addition to the Babymetal / Rob Halford collaboration, those attending this year's ceremony can look forward to performances by A Day to Remember, Of Mice & Men, Papa Roach, Beartooth and Underoath's Spencer Chamberlain and Aaron Gillespie among others. The event is scheduled to take place July 18 at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Babymetal are also nominated in the Best International Band category. You can vote on all the categories, get lineup info and find out how to get tickets at the Alternative Press Music Awards website.
