The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Lawton/Fort Sill has just kicked off their second annual "Adopt-A-Child" program.  This year Senator Randy Bass has been chosen as the 2012 Campaign Spokesperson.  Senator Bass recalls attending the Lawton/Fort Sill Boys and Girls Club as a child and remembers it as a fun place to go after school where he could play basketball, baseball and learn the sport of boxing.

Senator Bass played major league baseball for several teams including the Minnesota Twins before being elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in 2004.

The Adopt-A-Child program was officially kicked off in 2010 and was very successful.  Captain Ernie Hull stated that 53 children were allowed a summer camp experience last year because of the program.  He stated they were even able to rent a bus to take the kids to camp.

The goal for the campaign this year is to sponsor 150 children at a cost of $300 per year, per child.  Hull explained that with an annual child sponsorship, the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club delivers an excellent return on investment in the lives of our community's children.
