Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman may have a few early odd TV credits to his name, but the soon-to-be 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' star is about to make the small screen a full-time business. Hoffman has joined 'Anchorman' star Kathryn Hahn for Showtime's new dramedy pilot 'Trending Down,' but will the new project make it to series?

The official announcement for both the pilot and casting are expected next week, while Showtime describes 'Trending Down' as "a blistering attack on our youth-obsessed culture and a darkly comic examination of what it means to matter. Or matter not." 'This American Life' contributor and author Shalom Auslander created the series, and is set to write and executive produce alongside Hoffman.

Hoffman himself will take the leading role of Thom Payne, who finds himself adrift when his advertising agency is taken over. Meanwhile Kathryn Hahn, having previously appeared in such TV series as 'Parks and Recreation' and 'Hung,' will play Payne's wife Lee. 'Trending Down' also marks the first comedy pilot pickup for Showtime this year, alongside such dramatic offerings as Kyle Chandler's religious drama 'The Vatican,' and Dominic West-starring marital drama 'The Affair.'

Well, what say you? Are you interested to see Philip Seymour Hoffman take his first series regular TV role if Showtime picks up 'Trending Down?' What other Hollywood stars would make a good fit for premium cable?
