In September 2013, six bodies were discovered at the bottom of Foss Lake near Clinton, Oklahoma and were taken to the state medical examiner's office to determine their identities. The six remains have now been officially identified and have brought a close to a missing persons case over 40 and 50 years in the making.

The bodies were discovered by Oklahoma Highway Patrol when they were conducting tests on new sonar equipment they had received. During the tests, officers discovered two vehicles, three feet apart and facing opposite directions with three bodies in each vehicle.

Investigators then dived to recover the 1952 Chevrolet and 1969 Camaro to determine the identity of the remains and if foul play was involved.

The bodies discovered in the 1952 Chevy belonged to John Alva Porter, 69, of Elk City, Cleburn Hammack, 42, of Sayre, and Nora Marie Duncan, 58, of Canute. The group was reported missing from Canute in 1969.

The 1969 Camaro contained bodies of three teenagers reported missing from Sayre in 1970 and they were identified as Jimmy Allen Williams, 16, Leah Gail Johnson, 18, and Thomas Michael Rios, 18.

According to the state medical examiner's office, their deaths were ruled as probable drowning as a result of an accident.
