You wouldn't picture severe weather in October, but nature is fickle enough to produce large storms on the Great Plains this time of year. It's a similar mix of the changing weather patterns we see in Spring. Moist air streaming up from the gulf colliding with dry cool air coming down from the North. Severe weather is in our forecast, it's best to at least stay aware.

While most agree that the tornado risk is pretty low with the system moving through the state, there is quite a chance for some serious hail. Some outlets predicting tennis balls. Now as the models and forecast has progressed, Lawton is slowly falling out of those big hail chances, but something the size of a dime can really do a number on your car.

Your best bet is to keep an eye on the sky. Let the radio play while you work, if something severe does start to develop, we'll let you know.

We also have chances on Friday, but that forecast is bound to change up a bit too.
