Stone Sour are keeping their streak of Top 10 albums alive, as Hydrograd debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart this past week.

The disc also fared well on a number of other charts. Hydrograd debuted at No. 1 on the Top Current Albums chart, the Top Rock Albums chart and the Top Hard Rock Albums Chart. In total, the album moved 33,000 units, with 30,000 of those coming in traditional album sales.

Hydrograd debuted at No. 5 in the U.K. (their highest spot ever on the U.K. chart), No. 2 in Australia (also a high in that country) and was Top 5 in Germany, Japan and Switzerland.

Corey Taylor said of the stellar showing, “We're blown away by the reception of the album, especially balancing albums sold with our surge in streams. We poured our hearts into this - the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. The response tells us two things: people love the songs, and rock is far from dead. Our thanks to all the fans and keep spreading the word! We'll see you all soon!”

While much was made of the beef between Nickelback's Chad Kroeger and Stone Sour's Corey Taylor, Nickelback's latest album, Feed the Machine, released earlier in June, came out ahead in chart position (No. 5) and first-week sales (47,000 units), but time will tell which disc sells more copies in the long run.

Hydrograd features such tracks as "Fabuless," "Song #3," "Taipei Person / Allah Tea," "Mercy" and "Somebody Stole My Eyes." Look for the band working in material from the new album while on tour this summer with Korn. Dates can be found here.

In related news, Corey Taylor has announced a series of signings tied to his upcoming book, America 51. Taylor is set to visit Bookends in Ridgewood, N.J. on Aug. 8 for an evening book signing and another the following day (Aug. 9) at New York City’s Barnes & Noble in Union Square followed by an intimate acoustic performance at Irving Plaza.
