Ant Man

For the past two weeks, there has been a deluge of 'Avengers 2' footage - clips, trailers, extended trailers, future trailers! - and we were promised one last reveal last night. While 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' had the night off, ABC ran the Marvel TV special 'From Pulp to Pop,' which looked at the history of Marvel and Marvel Studios. It was mostly a rah-rah, pat-yourself-on-the-back kinda deal, but if you stuck around to the end, we not only got a look at 'Avengers 2' but also our first look at 'Ant-Man' footage.

Though New York Comic Con 2014 kicked off this past Thursday, October 9, the high-profile panels and festivities bring out more intense fans, and that means more cosplayers. After a tumultuous few months that left many wondering whether it would even happen at all, Marvel's 'Ant-Man' officially began filming yesterday in San Francisco. Not 24 hours later, we have our first look at star Paul Rudd, our newest superhero entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe...

Just when it seemed that Marvel's 'Ant-Man' was getting back on track after all that Edgar Wright-exiting and replacement director-searching, it appears that the Peyton Reed production has been hit with another major setback. Deadline reports that Patrick Wilson, Matt Gerald, and Kevin Weisman have all dropped out of the film, scheduled to go into production later this year. With Marvel set to hit Hall H tomorrow for one of their always-impressive Comic-Con presentations, it sure sounds like the 'Ant-Man' table will be unexpectedly undermanned.

Up until this point, we haven't heard any real explanation from Marvel or Edgar Wright on why the two sides parted ways on the 'Ant-Man' movie. Besides a few tweets, Wright has stayed mum on specifics, but now Marvel president Kevin Feige opened up about the departure.

For Marvel, San Diego Comic-Con is a playground where fans and news outlets tightly congregate to get a sneak peek at the upcoming slate of MCU films. We already knew that the studio behind some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters would be making an appearance, and Marvel Studios confirmed as much today, but that's all they're telling us! Still, based on our previous knowledge, there are a few things we can expect.

We're just over a month away from the release of 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' the highly-anticipated intergalactic superhero film from Marvel, but there's already talk of possible sequels from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. The executive also has some hints about 'Ant-Man,' which recently picked up director Peyton Reed and writer Adam McKay.

Breathe a sigh of relief everyone because it's officially official! Marvel has made the announcement: director Peyton Reed will helm 'Ant-Man,' taking over for the dearly departed Edgar Wright, while 'Anchorman' writer/director Adam McKay will take over scripting duties on the project, which has been on a bit of a bumpy track over the last couple of weeks.

Marvel has yet to postpone 'Ant-Man' since Edgar Wright left the project two weeks ago, and though we've heard a number of names mentioned as possible replacements, with Adam McKay coming the closest to taking the job, no one has yet to sign on. The latest word suggests 'Yes Man' helmer Peyton Reed and 'Wet Hot American Summer' auteur David Wain are the new front-runners to take over the project.

'Ant-Man' is gearing up production, and much of the principle cast has been signed, but now it appears that hot character actor Corey Stoll is the latest actor to be rumored to join the great cast of Edgar Wright's upcoming Marvel movie.
