Real name Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, M.I.A. is the moniker of the  British recording artist, songwriter, painter and director. We're sure glad she isn't "Missing in Action," you know? Because we like her face? Sorry, too easy.

Pitchfork Music Festival has just announced a slew of acts to round out this year’s killer lineup. Joining previously announced headliners Belle and Sebastian, Bjork and R. Kelly are M.I.A. and Yo La Tengo, plus many more.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the U.K.'s annual Bestival festival, and organizers have announced the first round of artists on a bill that promises to be one of the most eclectic of the 2013 festival season. The Flaming Lips, Franz Ferdinand, M.I.A., the Knife and Bombay Bicycle Club are among the acts set to appear at Bestival 2013 which takes place from Sept. 5-8 on the Isle of Wight,

‘Matangi,’ M.I.A.‘s new album, is expected to be released by December. But that hasn’t stopped the singer from dropping a few hints about it to her more-than 451,000 followers on Twitter.

A mere day after the death of singer Amy Winehouse, rapper M.I.A. released the haunting ’27,’ an unfinished demo that loosely pays tribute to the late star. The track, which was originally supposed to be released on M.I.A.’s 2010 mixtape, ‘Vicki Leekx,’ tells the story of a person who commits suicide after a long addiction to drugs and alcohol.
