Moviegoers this weekend will have a choice of three new films in wide release.
In ‘Contagion,’ Matt Damon fights a viral epidemic that could endanger the entire planet, while the title character in ‘Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star‘ learns his parents were once porn-stars and abandons his small town life to follow in their footsteps. Finally, ‘Warrior‘ sees two estranged brothers, both mixed-martial
This weekend, it will be a battle between 3-D barbarians and vampires for the top spot at the box office.
Opening Friday is the 3-D adventure ‘Conan in the Barbarian,’ starring Jason Momoa as the titular character, a man who is thrust into a dangerous and unknown world after his father is murdered and his village is destroyed.
In what has ironically turned out to be the franchise that just won’t die, ‘Final Destination 5′ opens in theaters Friday, promising more gore, more violence and, yes, more death.
If you’re sick of the franchise, or if you just prefer something lighter, there are two comedies brand-new to choose from this weekend. One is the R-Rated ’30 Minutes or Less,’ which re-teams Oscar-nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg (‘The Social Network’) with his ‘Zombieland’ director, Ruben Fleischer, in this flick about a bank robbery gone horribly wrong.
Or, if you’re feeling a bit more musically inclined, there’s always ‘Glee Live! 3-D!’, the latest incarnation from Fox’s uber-successful TV series.
Could ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ be the surprise blockbuster of the summer? Critics certainly seem to think so.
The James Franco vehicle, which serves as a reboot of the classic ‘Apes’ franchise, is receiving strong reviews thus far – or at least stronger than most had expected.
Three new movies will be added to theaters this Friday, offering everything from cowboys and aliens to the Smurfs in 3-D.
The first is the Jon Favreau-directed ‘Cowboys & Aliens,’ in which Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford team to fight off – you guessed it – an alien-invasion in 1873 Arizona.
This weekend, two new movie releases will try to dethrone ‘Harry Potter’ as king of the box office – one about a patriotic super-hero, the other about two friends who think they can actually make casual sex work.
The first is ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.’ In the film, Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers, a scrawny guy who volunteers for a top-secret scientific experiment that transforms his body and enables him to join the US Army in its crusade against the Nazis.
Kevin James is seeking big laughs in his latest summer comedy, 'Zookeeper,' in which he plays, well, a zookeeper whose animals reveal they can talk when he decides he wants to leave to find a more glamorous job.
Though it's sure to be a hit with families this weekend, adults may opt for the R-rated 'Horrible Bosses' instead, which stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudekis as three disgruntled employees who decide they want to kill their bosses.
Which movie will win the box office? We'll know on Sunday. In the meantime, get a rundown of the biggest movies in theaters this weekend.
The ‘Transformers’ are back for two and a half hours worth of action in ‘Dark of the Moon,’ the third movie in Michael Bay’s mega-blockbuster franchise.

Trailers for two highly anticipated movies hit the Internet late Tuesday evening.
The first was for the high-flying ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,’ in which Tom Cruise once again reprises the role of IMF Agent Ethan Hunt.
Another sequel cruises into theaters this weekend by way of Pixar’s ‘Cars 2,’ with Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) back for another fast-paced adventure – this time, at the first-ever World Grand Prix.
Reviews haven’t been too kind for the movie, but given Pixar’s recent successes, ‘Cars 2′ should have no problem taking the number-one spot at the box office.
In what will likely be considered a wise decision, studios are steering clear of Capt. Jack Sparrow this weekend.
