The NFL postseason has arrived and while a dozen teams chase the Vince Lombardi Trophy, you may want to temper your excitement because we think these NFL playoffs will actually go down as the least exciting in history.

The NFL playoffs start Saturday. Four division champions host first-round games this weekend, while Green Bay, San Francisco, New England and Baltimore enjoy a bye week and wait to begin their Super Bowl quest.

What better way to start off the new year than with a ton of firings? Raheem Morris and reportedly all the assistant coaches and coordinators of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were asking themselves this question when they lost their jobs Monday.
The Giants beat the Cowboys to win the NFC East, while the Bengals and Broncos lost, but received help from other teams to slip into the last remaining AFC playoff spots. The playoffs are scheduled to begin next Saturday, when Cincinnati travels to Houston and New Orleans hosts Detroit. On Sunday, Atlanta travels to New York, while Denver hosts Pittsburgh. There were certainly a lot of big moments in football in 2011, but only one man can claim ownership of the best of the year.

It’s the final week of the NFL’s 2011 regular season and only three playoff spots remain: the AFC West and NFC East titles and an AFC wild card berth. The AFC North is Baltimore’s to lose, but both the Ravens and the rival Pittsburgh Steelers have already qualified for the playoffs. Each game this week is a divisional rematch.

During the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the Arizona Cardinals Saturday, Bengals receiver Jerome Simpson jumped high in the air and then somersaulted over Arizona linebacker Daryl Washington.
It was a spectacular move that ended with Simpson landing in the endzone on his feet.
NFL football on Christmas eve was a welcomed addition to the gift wrapping, nog chugging and clock watching that usually comes with the day before the big holiday.

Drew Brees set a new NFL record for yards passing in a season, and the New Orleans Saints beat the Atlanta Falcons 45-16 on Monday night to clinch the NFC South title. B

The Christmas holiday necessitates a schedule tweak for the NFL. Most games will be held on Saturday, with the exception of the Texans-Colts contest on Thursday, the Bears-Packers game on Sunday night and the Falcons and Saints, who will meet on ‘Monday Night Football.’
