There's a new Senate bill (SB-1366) that would change and/or amend Oklahoma's firearm laws as it relates to the state's self-defense act and open carry. The new bill was written and introduced by Senator Lonnie Paxton (R-Tuttle, OK.) and seeks to make changes to the language of the self-defense act and the practice of concealed or open carry of firearms in the state.

Earlier this afternoon Governor Mary Fallin signed into law the 'Open Carry' bill (S.B. 1733) which allows Oklahoma citizens with a valid concealed carry permit the option of carrying their firearm openly or concealed. The new law will go into effect on November 1st 2012

Last week the Oklahoma Senate passed a bill (S.B. 1733) that would allow Oklahomans  with a valid concealed weapons permit the option of carrying their firearms either concealed or openly, holstered in public. Governor Mary Fallin (R) is expected to sign the new bill into law by this Thursday (05-17-12).
