Sadly it's been officially confirmed, Bed Bath & Beyond in Lawton, Fort Sill will be closing. We've been hearing all kinds of rumors online and elsewhere over the past several weeks about the possibility that the store would be closing its doors permanently and unfortunately, it is.

Abandoned no more! If you haven't heard the news yet Crossroads Mall in Oklahoma City, OK. will be reopening sometime this fall. That's right, one of the greatest malls in the Sooner State will return in 2022 with retail, restaurants, and a HUGE three-story convention center!

This Sunday, December 19th (12-19-21) at Central Plaza in downtown the Lawton Academy of Music will be performing live in the center court helping to spread a little holiday cheer.

You've probably heard all the rumors over the past several months about a new shopping center on N.W. Cache Road in Lawton. So what's being built there?

Now that the City of Lawton owns the Central Mall they're looking to fill empty space and there's a lot of it! Parts of the mall will be used for the FISTA project and the other for retail stores and restaurants. They hope to fill all the remaining empty spaces in the mall with new stores, places to eat and other businesses.

Over the weekend I had to go to Walmart on the West side at 6301 N.W. Quannah Parker Trail Way for a quick snack and grocery run. I had a few more items than normal so instead of self checkout I went to a regular line with a cashier. As she was ringing up all my items she said "Pretty soon you won't be able to do this." I asked what she was talking about and she told me that by the end of April or beginning of May Walmart on the West side will be 100% self checkout, no more cashiers. I asked if she was going to be able to keep her job and she said yes, that she would be assisting customers at self checkout.

The wait is almost over for the new shopping center in Elgin, OK. The "Elgin Square" is expected to be open sometime Spring 2021. We've been hearing a lot of rumors and rumblings about the new shopping center so we decided to take a quick trip to Elgin today to check it out for ourselves. The construction is moving along nicely and now that Mother Nature is being more cooperative crews are able to get back to work and get it finished up. All the framing and exterior walls are up and they'll be working on interiors soon.

If you haven't seen or heard the news yet, the big debate online is all about Walmart and the possibility that they'll be going full self check out or "Scan & Go" by the end of 2021. That's right, there could be a time and real soon that you go to Walmart and there's no cashiers or manned check out lanes anymore. The rumor is maybe as soon as April of this year, however no official word has come down from Walmart quite yet.
