What happens when two new releases that look like sure-things smash into the unstoppable wall that is a Pixar movie? Well, you get one second place hit and one severe disappointment. 'The Heat' still looks good next to the continued success of 'Monsters University,' but it made 'White House Down' stumbling at the starting line look all the more horrible.

We have another comedy/action pairing of flicks hitting theaters this weekend. The first is a reunion of sorts between the director and co-star of the summer 2011 hit 'Bridesmaids,' and the second should sound oddly familiar to anyone who caught 'Olympus Has Fallen' back in March.

“She's crazy!” That's what 'Arrested Development' star Tony Hale shouts from the back of Melissa McCarthy's broken down jalopy of a police car as she goes through the motions of an uninteresting chase sequence. "Hoo boy," I mutter. "We're in for another 'Identity Thief' here" - a movie where physical comedy and riff-heavy music cues will have to suffice instead of any real wit.

We've been hearing a lot of news about sequels recently (including '21 Jump Street 2' and 'Fast and Furious 7'), but those have been for hit films or are continuing a franchise that has already proved successful enough to rush. Today it's been announced that studios are working on sequels for 'The Heat' and 'Ride Along,' two films that haven't even hit theaters yet.

There are few films coming out this summer that have us more excited than Paul Feig's 'The Heat,' which looks like it'll be a delightful shot to the arm of the buddy cop genre. Just when we thought we couldn't be more excited for 'The Heat,' a new clip pops up online and reminds us that this looks like the comedy to beat this summer. Let's be honest here: how could you not be looking forward to a buddy cop comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy and directed by Paul Feig? Your answer to that will determine whether or not you like laughing.
