It started on a late summer's night in Salina, KS, and except for a slight detour at the hands of their cross-city rival MacArthur Highlanders (who too find themselves battling for a state title this weekend), the road has led the Lawton Wolverines directly to the 6A-II State Finals Friday night in Moore.

The 4th ranked Lawton High Wolverines outscored the Bartlesville Bruins 28-7 in the 2nd quarter en route to a 56-24 victory in the 1st round of the 6AII playoffs Friday night at Cameron Stadium in Lawton.

Quarterback Jack Meservy led the No. 4 Lawton High to a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter en route to a 42-28 win over the Choctaw Yellow Jackets Friday night.

The Lawton Wolverines remained unbeaten in 6AII-2 football action Thursday night with a 72-27 win over Eisenhower.

It was another of those long bus rides Friday night for the Lawton High Wolverines.

The Putnam City Patriots made the hour and a half trip to Lawton, OK Friday night and they definitely got a few things right: their bus driver didn't get lost, they won the opening coin toss and recovered an onside kick to start the second half.
