Over the weekend, I decided to binge-watch 10 hours of 'This Old House' on my DVR, which got me thinking about how much I used to watch 'New Yankee Workshop', so yesterday, I had a free moment, decided to see if they offered it streaming or on disc. I wasn't prepared for what I found.

Every time I see Norm Abrams on 'This Old House', I start to think about how completely awesome he is. The talent in that mans hands are pretty much unrivaled in a sea of reasonably attractive TV home improvement hosts. Norm knows what's up.

I grew up watching 'New Yankee Workshop' with my dad on Saturday mornings. (along with Bob Villa's This Old House and Cooking with Justin Wilson) And to this day, I can't get enough of it.

PBS will air it once in a while, but it's mostly off the permanent schedule in cancellation these days. So I hopped on to the official New Yankee Workshop website to see if they sell DVD's and such... as luck turned out, it is available as a complete series!

NYW Box Set

After the initial sticker shock, I guess I could understand the outrageous price of $3000 for the boxed-set... After all, this was technically public access programming on viewer-funded TV channels.

Still... That's $146 per season of this awesome show! That could buy groceries for a month in my house. Surely it's a typo right? No. That's literally the price. I guess I'll have to wait for it to become a little cheaper.

I even thought to myself "I'll just mask a torrent download of it and save that money," but as it turns out, you can't just find NYW on any reputable torrent site. Guess I'll have to stick with YouTube for now.
