In a move that will finally target the elusive demographic of beer drinkers who love classic rock and modern hip-hop, Budweiser has announced plans to debut a new commercial during the Super Bowl that mashes up the Cult‘s ‘She Sells Sanctuary’ with the recent Flo Rida hit ‘Good Feelin’.’

According to the press release announcing the commercial, “The one-minute spot is a celebratory romp through several decades of great times in America that begins with the end of Prohibition in 1933.”

The Cult’s Super Bowl party comes during a flurry of band-related activity, including the announcement that they’ll be releasing a brand new album, titled ‘Choice of Weapon,’ on May 22. The band’s ninth album and first in five years, it’s being preceded by a free download for the track ‘Lucifer’ — and comes after vocalist Ian Astbury’s 2009 pronouncement that the Cult had stopped making full-length albums because it’s “a dead format.”

Watch video clips for the two songs below. What do you think — a mashup made in heaven, or will you be getting up from the couch when the commercial airs?
