Punk legends Iggy and the Stooges enjoyed a successful reunion in 2003 that yielded a pair of new studio albums -- 2007's The Weirdness and 2013's Ready to Die, but with Iggy Pop and guitarist James Williamson the only originals since their first era, where does the band stand today?

In a new interview with Joel Gausten, Williamson reveals he feels as though the Iggy and the Stooges story "is over." He was asked if he envisioned a future where he'd play with Pop again, either in the Stooges or another incarnation, and the guitarist responded, “I doubt it. The Stooges is over. Basically, everybody’s dead except for Iggy and I, so it would be sort of ludicrous to try to tour as Iggy and the Stooges with only one Stooge in the band, and then you have side guys. That doesn’t make any sense to me. And frankly, I don’t want to tour anymore; I’m kind of done with it. I also feel like we’re getting a little long in the tooth to be doing these show anymore. I know he does them, and people seem to like them. That’s fine, but I feel like I don’t want to beat it into the ground."

Williamson and Pop did continue with the help of bass great Mike Watt and drummer Toby Dammit after the deaths of brothers Ron and Scott Asheton and the guitarist says that worked for a period but he's not so sure there's more of the story to be told. "In 2013, we were still kind of kicking butt onstage, and I think we could hold up to most bands –- young bands, in fact. But these days, I think it’s more of a memory than it is a reality. I’m good with not doin’ nothin'," concluded the guitarist.

That being said, Williamson is not done with music. "I still feel I have some music left in me, so I’m enjoying doing these little projects and putting them out there for people," says the guitarist, who released a solo album in 2014 and recently worked with BellRays vocalist Lisa Kekaula on a children's song titled "I Love My Tutu / Never Far From Where the Wild Things Are."
