The Sword are preparing to embark on a European tour in support of their new album High Country that's set to be released on Friday (Aug. 21). They have just announced a North American trek that kicks off in their home state of Texas on Oct. 9.

Opening bands for the first leg of the tour that wraps up Nov. 4 will be Kadavar and All Them Witches. Kadavar won't be on the bill for the Oct. 30 through Nov. 4 shows. After a couple weeks off, the second leg launches Nov. 18 in New Orleans with Royal Thunder.

During the tour The Sword will also take part in Slipknot's Knotfest on Oct. 24 in San Bernardino, Calif. and the Aftershock Festival the following day in Sacramento.

In an interview with Noisey, frontman J.D. Cronise talked about High Country and what he hoped the listener would get from it. "I hope they dig it, first and foremost," Cronise says. "I hope our fans will be open to it, I know some of them will be, and they spread the word to other people who may not have been into our older stuff maybe. I just want people to dig it, it’s meant to be a generally positive vibe, not super intense or doomy, just a classic rock record with different shades of tones and a good time."

Meanwhile, The Sword recently released a lyric video for the song "The Dreamthieves" off their new album. Check out the song and watch the clip in the player provided above.
