‘The Wire’ Star Dominic West to Headline Showtime Pilot ‘The Affair’
We’ve seen Showtime on a major talent kick of late, developing new dramas from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and ‘Dexter”s own Michael C. Hall, and its latest proves no less exciting. Former ‘The Wire‘ and near-’Game of Thrones‘ star Dominic West will headline the drama pilot for ‘The Affair,’ but will the new marital drama prove as Emmy-winning as Showtime’s other adult fare?
Since we’ll never get tired of seeing ‘The Wire’ stars return to premium cable, and given we missed out on Dominic West bringing Mance Rayder to life for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 3, we’re excited to see McNulty move to Showtime for his latest project. Via The Hollywood Reporter, we’ve learned that West will headline the new adultery drama ‘The Affair,’ written by ‘In Treatment”s Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi.
‘The Affair’ explores the disruption of two marriages and the fallout from the titular encounter. West will play Noah, a good husband, devoted father and New York City high school teacher whose settled and comfortable world falls apart when he meets a woman he believes to be his soul mate.
Treem wrote the pilot to feature both the male and female perspective, while both Treem and Levi will executive produce it alongside director Mark Mylod (‘Shameless‘). For his part, West’s most recent work in the now-canceled ‘The Hour’ almost netted him a Golden Globe.
What say you? Are you excited to see Showtime cooking up another adult drama with Dominic West at the helm?
