Jon Jones used a series of furious strikes to score a technical knockout of Chael Sonnen in the first round of their bout at UFC 159 in Newark, N.J. on Saturday night. Jones broke his toe during the brief match, but was still able to easily dispatch Sonnen and retain the UFC light heavyweight title.

There were several notable matches on the undercard. Michael Bisping defeated Alan Belcher via a technical decision when Bisping accidentally poked Belcher in the eye, forcing the middleweight bout to be stopped in the third round. Roy "Big Country" Nelson knocked out Cheick Kongo with a big overhand right in the first round of their heavyweight bout. The victory could get Nelson a step closer to a title shot against UFC champ Cain Velasquez.
