John Lennon came to reject the left-wing politics that he championed in the late ’60s and early ’70s, and had become a supporter of right-wing icon Ronald Reagan.

That’s the claim made by his former personal assistant, Fred Seaman.

According to Seaman, Lennon’s last personal assistant, the music legend  “was a very different person back in 1979 and ’80 than he’d been when he wrote ‘Imagine.’ By 1979 he looked back on that guy and was embarrassed by that guy’s naivete.”

In fact, Lennon told Seaman that if he had been eligible to vote in the 1980 American presidential election, he would have punched the name of conservative Republican Ronald Reagan.

Lennon was assassinated on December 8, 1980, about a month after Reagan was elected to his first term as president.

Seaman makes these revelations in the new Beatles documentary ‘Beatles Stories.’
