While hard rock and gymnastics are not usually synonymous, Disturbed’s music was recently used as the soundtrack for a stellar routine by U.S. acrobatic gymnasts. The incredible performance earned Emily Davis and Aubrey Rosilier a spot in the finals of the 2018 World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Unfortunately, the two finished fifth in the competition. Watch their final routine in the player above.

Davis and Rosilier performed their routine to Disturbed’s 2015 cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” In the qualification round, the duo executed a nearly flawless routine set to the moody track, which sent them to the finals.

The gutsy performance caught the attention of Disturbed, who posted on Twitter to share the video and compliment the pair. The band retweeted the video from USA Gymnastics and wrote: “Congrats to Emily Davis and Aubrey Rosilier who used this routine to earn a final spot at the 2018 World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships! Thanks for using our version of The Sound of Silence!"

It’s not the first time Disturbed’s music has been used in big competitions. During the 2018 Olympics, the French free skating team used the same song for their routine. The pair also finished in fifth place, just off the medal podium.

Back in late 2015 and early 2016, Disturbed's version of the "The Sound of Silence" hit No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock and Hard Rock Digital Songs charts and topped out at No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Disturbed recently unleashed a video update on their new album. The clip gives fans a taste of their first new album since 2015's Immortalized, which is expected to released later this year.
