Even though the weather is unusually warm this month, it's still prime time for a little hiking in the Wichita Mountains.

Whether you're an experience hiker, or a newbie trekker, the Wichita Mountains offer up great scenery and panoramic views each person has to earn. You can go as fast or slow as you want. You're almost guaranteed to see some of the native wildlife while you're out there, it's a wonder you haven't taken a trip out there yet.

There are countless hiking trails, like I mentioned, from easy going to some pretty challenging stuff. And it's not just in the fenced off refuge.

I get it though, it can be a little hard to turn planned excitement into reality, so if you'd prefer, there are several group hikes offered every month. You can get all the information at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center outside the Western gate, or just ask around. Hit facebook, most all of them organize there. Just get out and enjoy SWOK.
