Extreme Winds and Severe Storms Headed For Oklahoma
March is off to a classic Oklahoma spring weather start. So far this month the state has seen spring-like temperatures, severe storms, snow and a few tornadoes. And it looks like Oklahoma is just getting started as a two big storm systems are expected to impact the state this week.
Last week, Oklahoma had its first taste of spring severe storms. The state saw 13 confirmed tornadoes on Tuesday, March 4, which included nine EF1 tornadoes and 4 EF0. In southeast Oklahoma, the town of Ada received significant damage from an EF1 tornado that traveled 3.7 miles and resulted in one injury. The City of Ada reported that there were 24 families displaced due to damage to their homes.

Extreme winds and severe storms expected to impact Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 12 and Friday, March 14.
After last week's severe weather, meteorologists started looking at the next storm system headed for Oklahoma. As we get closer to the middle of March, local meteorologists are beginning to get a more accurate reading on two storm systems that will impact Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 12 and Friday, March 14.
According to News 9 Meteorologist Lacey Swope, the first storm system that will reach Oklahoma on Wednesday will ramp up the wind across the state. Isolated rain and storms are possible on Wednesday as well.
But the storm system on Friday is expected to be much stronger. Extreme winds will be possible Friday wit some areas seeing win speeds over 65 miles per hour. Severe storms are also possible Friday east of I-35. But the high winds could result in blowing dust, power outages, minor damage and extreme wildfire damage. More information on Friday's storm system will be available closer to date.
