UPDATE, 1:15 p.m. 4/9/2025: The City of Lawton posted an update at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 on its official Facebook page regarding the water main break near NE Ferris Ave. Crews encountered additional issues as the pipe broke further. Residents in the area continued to be without water into the early evening hours on Tuesday, making it over 24 hours without water. The water was restored to the area after 5 p.m. on Tuesday.


 

You never know how much you really on water in your home until it goes out! Several residents in Lawton, Oklahoma, have now gone 24 hours without water due to a water main break at NW Ferris Ave.

In the early afternoon of Monday, April 7, the City of Lawton closed NW Ferris Ave from NW Fort Sill Blvd to NW 14th Street due to a water main break. According to a post from the city's Facebook page, the there was a 24 inch water main break in the area that resulted in flooded streets, loss of water for residents and bubbled concrete on newly constructed roads.

The City of Lawton posted the update on its official Facebook page at 4:23 p.m. Monday and stated that "water had been restored to all affected customers." But in the comments of the post, many residents in the area said that through the evening and into the early morning hours that they were still without water, specifically on NW Oak Ave and NW Maple Ave. Other customers in the area reported they were experiencing low water pressure.

The City of Lawton posted an update at 9 a.m. Tuesday about the water main break near NW Ferris Ave stating that the line was excavated overnight and that a contractor would install the new pipe Tuesday. There was no mention of water service being turned off or on for the residents in the area.

Residents again commented on the post stating that they are still without water. Some of the residents commented that they had called the City of Lawton to get an estimated time on when the water would be turned back on and the response was "soon." Residents were still without water by 2 p.m. Tuesday and the City of Lawton had not provided a new update regarding the construction or water restoration.
