Oklahoma endured two rounds of severe weather on Tuesday, April 1, and more severe weather is expected at the end of the week and into the weekend. Oklahomans could once again see large hail, damaging winds and a chance for tornadoes.

On Tuesday, Oklahoma saw multiple rounds of severe weather throughout the state. Several areas saw large hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Tornado damage was reported in Owasso, Oklahoma, early Wednesday morning. The town endured damage to homes, downed trees and power lines.

Based on the damage, local meteorologists are estimating that an EF1 or EF2 impacted Owasso early Wednesday morning. The tornado was on the ground for eight miles and moved at about 55 miles per hour.

More severe weather with tornado potential expected for Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is expected to see more severe weather Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, plus Thursday evening and Friday afternoon/evening. According to the National Weather Service in Norman, areas of southwest Oklahoma could see severe weather Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. Main threats include large hail, damaging wind gusts and low tornado potential.

Severe weather will continue into Thursday evening for parts of central and southwest Oklahoma. Hazards include hail up to golf ball size and maximum wind gusts from 60 to 80 miles per hour. The tornado threat for Thursday evening is very low, but not zero.

With the upcoming storms, Oklahoma is expected to move into a wet trend for the next seven days. Rain is expected to continue into Saturday as well, then a sunny start to the beginning of next week.
