Another wind storm pushed through Oklahoma late Tuesday night and is expected to continue into Wednesday evening. Late Tuesday, the high winds ignited a wildfire in southwest Oklahoma between the towns of Frederick and Manitou, prompting the closure of US-183.

Before midnight Tuesday, Tillman County Emergency Management reported that an "out of control wildfire" broke out broke out between Frederick and Manitou and urged drivers to avoid US-183 as local fire departments worked to contain the fire.

After 1 a.m. US-183 was reopened and the fire was contained. Fire departments from Frederick, Manitou, Grandfield, Davidson and Tipton responded to the fire Tuesday evening and into the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to Tillman County Emergency Management, the National Weather Service in Norman contacted Tillman County Emergency Management about a hotspot detected by satellite near Frederick. The Frederick Fire Department and the Manitou Volunteer Fire Department were initially dispatched. Additional resources throughout the night were dispatched from Grandfield, Davidson and Tipton.

The wildfire was contained near the Frederick Landfill.

The Tillman County wildfire sparked back up Wednesday afternoon.

At 12:45 p.m. Wednesday the wildfire in Tillman County sparked back up near Frederick. Hotspots reignited along US-183 due to high winds Wednesday afternoon. As of 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, US-183 was reduced to one southbound lane. Drivers are urged to use caution on US-183 between Frederick and Manitou.
