If you grew up in Oklahoma, you've probably ridden in the bed of a truck at some point. Maybe not quite like this guy, but most of us have taken a trip in the bed of the truck for fun, in a parade, or to haul something. And glancing at this, you might think that it MUST be illegal... and you'd be wrong.

In fact, Oklahoma has no state law regarding riding in the bed of a truck. Now, from what I can find on the good ol' internet, i'm not sure if grilling in the back of a truck in line at Rocklahoma is completely legal... but it's been done.

Well, if you ask Justia Law, the answer is no. According to Oklahoma law, "No operator of a motor vehicle shall allow a passenger to ride outside the passenger compartment of the vehicle on the streets, highways or turnpikes of this state."

There are only a few exceptions to this rule, being:

• persons so riding on private property
• for parades or special events
• passengers riding on the bed of a pickup truck

Do with that information what you will. Instead of receiving the ticket, why not just enjoy the amusement from afar?
