Mixed Emotions About Justin Timberlake’s Cancellation in Oklahoma
Looks like someone's visit to Oklahoma last week was cut short. Justin Timberlake was supposed to perform at Oklahoma City's Paycom Center, but had to cancel the show. After the announcement, many Oklahomans had a lot to say and the strangest part is - there's no one real definite way everyone felt.
Justin Timberlake Announces Oklahoma Concert Cancelled On World Tour
During a performance in New Orleans, Justin Timberlake hurt his back, according to his post on Facebook. Since doctors ordered him to "rest a little longer," unfortunately that meant that his fans in Oklahoma were missing out on the next stop on his "Forget Tomorrow World Tour."

Several folks were upset about missing this opportunity, with comments like:
- "I had barstool vip, I’m heartbroken."
- "I'm so sad."
- "Worst news ever and no reschedule date."
Although many fans were disappointed about the news, the comments about the cancellation on the Facebook post alone were shocking.
While some folks who purchased tickets were sad, many of the folks on Facebook weren't entirely disappointed about the news. Some comments were:
- "Did we even ask him to come here?"
- "I'm sure Oklahoma will not be a big loss to the tour."
- "Oklahoma is a Red State."
- "Good thing we didn't buy tickets."
- "Well if backstreet wasn't back.... Alright."
Some were even speculating if the cancellation was actually due to the lack of ticket sales in Oklahoma. Some commentors wrote:
- "Aka low ticket sales."
- "So the ticket sales weren't great? "
- "I could see this coming. So many tickets were left."
The good news is those who purchased tickets can expect at least their money being returned; the bad news, though, is the opportunity to see Justin on the World Tour won't be returning. According to KTLA5, "While other shows have been rescheduled, Timberlake’s OKC performance will not be. Ticketholders will be issued refunds."
Oklahoma - You're Not Doing Fine
This last part is pure speculation. But, if ticket sales did somehow impact Justin's decision to come to Oklahoma, it wouldn't surprise me. Although Oklahoma has been known for being home to some incredible performers, our state (on a large scale) just doesn't show up for the performing artists.
This year specifically, we saw a huge dip in several large-scale entertainment events, like the Oklahoma State Fair. Several live music venues throughout the state have been closing over recent years, like Guitar Bar in Lawton and JC Cowboys in Weatherford.
If you'd like to keep artists coming to this state, people need to get out and get in the seats. The entertainment industry does no good if there aren't people to entertain. So do yourself a favor and plam a visit to a show this weekend at one of Oklahoma's best live music venues.
