Medicine Park, OK. is the Perfect Vacation Getaway!
If you're already thinking ahead about Spring/Summer plans or vacations I'm sure the high gas prices will play a major role in your destinations and decisions. Right now we're seeing $3.69 to $3.75 in Lawton, Fort SIll and it's not looking like it's going to level off anytime soon. We can expect gas to be $4.00-$4.25 or more per gallon by the time we hit the prime vacation months. Family Summer vacation plans are in jeopardy!
The family and I were going over options and the budget to see what we could do as far as a mini vacation this Summer. As fuel and energy prices soar so will everything else so get ready for record inflation and your paycheck not going as far as it once did. Hopefully, things will improve but in the meantime, it doesn't hurt to prepare and plan ahead just in case it gets as bad as some people are saying. Better to be safe, than sorry.
After talking it over we decided we'd do a little vacationing or staycationing in Medicine Park, OK. It's just a quick 15-25 minute drive from Lawton, Fort SIll so it certainly won't break the gas budget and there are tons of things to see and do there. Plus throughout the Spring and Summer months, they have all kinds of special events and festivals going on. There are places to stay, or you could do a daycation and come back to the house if you wanted to. I think we'll book a room or 2, maybe even a cabin, and make a weekend of it.
Do a little swimming, wading, and floating in Bath Lake then go fishing, hiking, and sightseeing. Of course, we'll have to make a trip through the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refugee. While we're there we'll definitely go to the aquarium, if you've never been you're missing out. One of my favorite things about Medicine Park is all the awesome food. They have some of the best restaurants and snack shacks to be found anywhere in the state, maybe the Nation. Sure, I love all the shops and hanging out, especially during events and festivals but the food is my all-time favorite thing about Medicine Park. Well, that and the people.
In all the years I've gone to Medicine Park I can honestly say I've never run across a rude or unfriendly person, not one. Everyone is always welcoming, super friendly, and helpful. This town loves visitors and travelers from all across the state and the world for that matter. And it's right here in S.W. Oklahoma and only a short trip from Lawton, Fort Sill. It's the perfect vacation getaway or staycation without breaking the bank!
