City Council

The Lawton city council voted today (07-17-20) in favor of a mandatory face mask order. The new ordinance will require all citizens to wear a mask or covering while in public. With the recent increase of positive COVID-19 cases in the state and county the city of Lawton is taking steps to help slow or stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

I would certainly be more involved in local politics and the city government if more council meetings were like this one. If you've ever wondered to yourself "what would it take to completely derail a city council meeting" I have an answer for you, a fart.

I finally put my trash at the curb this morning. It's trash day in my neighborhood. Tuesdays and Fridays.

Tuesday night's Lawton city council meeting featured a very important question for council members; how to handle proposed changes to the city's charter, and whether to present the proposals to residents on the November ballot.

A special session of the Lawton City Council has been called for Monday at 4 p.m., to talk about grievances recently filed by local unions in regards to a new anti-tobacco ordinance.

Yesterday evening (05-08-12) Lawton citizens showed up in force and filled City Hall for a historic City Council meeting that will forever change, for the better our local economic landscape not to mention city government for years to come! The people have spoken and our elected officials had no choice but to listen.
