The war rages on as the battle of the birds continues. It's a strongly debated argument that's been going on for years now, "Which fast food place has the best chicken sandwich?" We all have our favorites, but which one is the absolute best? You know, the one chicken sandwich to rule them all! It seems every day there's a new one being hatched and another restaurant adding to the menu their take on the chicken sandwich.

The brand new Panera Bread in Lawton across from Walmart on Sheridan Road and next door to Raising Cain's Chicken is starting to take shape. Every time I pass by there more and more has been done. It looks like most of the exterior walls and structure are completed, nor they're working on roughing in the interior.

While it may, or may not be the perfect time or weather for a frosty, frozen, flavorful treat at McDonald's like a soft serve ice cream, milk shake or a McFlurry, it soon will be. You can bet in a few short weeks it'll warm up and we'll all be in line at McDonald's looking to place an order. But, will the ice cream machine be working? That's the real question.

It won't be long now, the new Panera Bread in Lawton, Fort Sill is now under construction on Sheridan Road next to Raising Cain's Chicken and across from Walmart. They've gotten a good start, the outside walls are now in place and they're working on bricking and roughing in the interior.

I know this is going to upset some people, but I happen to agree with these findings.

Today's the day, the McRib is back! The wait is finally over and you can now order the McRib at all Lawton McDonald's. That's what I ate for lunch and what I plan on eating for dinner as well. It'll only be out for a limited time so you have to fill up and eat as many as possible while you can. Or at least I do. The sad day will come when it will be removed from the menu and we'll have to wait an entire year for it to return.

Great news, the brand new Sonic on Sheridan Road in Lawton is NOW OPEN! Awhile back we lost 2 Sonic Drive Ins here in town, the one on Lee Blvd near 2nd street and the one closest to Fort Sill on Sheridan road. We were all wondering what was going on and worried that Sonic Drive Ins were closing in town. Then we saw them breaking ground and building the new location at 1609 N.W. Sheridan Road.

Good news, McDonald's is planning to bring the McRib sandwich back early next month! This will be the first time in over eight years that McDonald's will have the McRib at all locations across the U.S. at the same time. Normally they only bring it back to select markets and restaurants, but in the year of our Lord 2020, the McRib will be available everywhere!

If you've been near the corner of Cache and Sheridan lately you've probably seen all the construction. Lawton's newest Sonic Drive-in will be opening soon. We drove past it today and they're getting it built and ready fast. We might be able to start pulling in and ordering as early as next month. It'll feature the usual drive in we all know and love, as well as a drive thru lane and window.

Looks like the new construction near the corner of Cache and Sheridan, close to the 1,400 block next to China Wok will be a brand new Sonic Drive In. They're getting it done quick and in no time we'll have a new Sonic in Lawton.

The Chick-fil-A on Cache Road is back open today (08-19-20) after being temporally shutdown due to COVID-19 concerns. The entire restaurant has been completely strip cleaned inside and out and thoroughly sanitized after last week's exposure to the Coronavirus. They'll be open from 10:30am to 8:00pm and I'll be hitting the drive-thru for lunch today to get my chicken on. It's great to have them back up and running.
