Kick Ass 2

'Kick-Ass 2' hit theaters, which means the number of masked vigilantes on the prowl will quadruple.

There's something thematically appropriate about a movie telling the story of a butler who quietly influenced the United States taking the number one spot at the box office over its flashy, bigger rivals. Lee Daniels' 'The Butler' took multiplexes by storm this weekend, taking down last week's competition as well as a handful of seemingly strong newcomers.

New in theaters this week are a biopic about one of America's great innovators, the sequel to a surprise 2010 hit and an early Oscar hopeful with big-name cast.

The panel for 'Kick-Ass 2' at Comic-Con 2013 has just begun. We'll be bringing you a thorough update this afternoon with all the details from that panel, but until then, Universal has just released an extended red band trailer for the upcoming sequel, with plenty of Kick-Ass and ass-kicking, and your favorite miniature hero, Hit Girl, as well as Jim Carrey's Colonel Stars and Stripes.

Although we've already seen a ton of footage and publicity materials for Jeff Wadlow's 'Kick-Ass 2,' Universal Studios brought the title out for its Comic-Con 2013 panel on Friday, July 20.

Comic-Con 2013 may be in full swing, but that doesn't mean those of us stuck at home are completely left out. Although 'Kick-Ass 2' will be showing off all kinds of new footage for the folks in Hall H this week, we get to check out a new TV spot for Jeff Wadlow's upcoming sequel. Sure, it's not the same, but it'll do for now.

We're only a couple of months away from the debut of 'Kick-Ass 2,' which means it's about time for the stars of the film to begin promoting it -- Jim Carrey certainly has a original way of doing so: by denouncing the violence in the film.

The latest trailer for 'Kick-Ass 2' makes the stakes pretty clear. After Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) killed Frank D'Amico in the first film, Frank's son Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) wants revenge, and to get it he's willing and ready to transform himself into a super villain.

The internet has shown that filmmakers can act directly with fans, and circumvent the official marketing machine. 'Kick-Ass 2' director Jeff Wadlow has shown how far you can go by uploading a clip from his upcoming movie. It offers Aaron Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz starting a fight with Christopher Mintz-Plasse and his gang.

Despite much critical hype, Matthew Vaughn's 'Kick-Ass' was only a modest success at the box office. While it didn't make a lot of money, it made plenty of fans and sold a lot of DVDs and here we are: 'Kick-Ass 2' hits this summer and our first look at the film has arrived. And yes, that is Jim Carrey.

We're excited about 'Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall,' but it seems the production has been kind of leaky. There's a cameo that's been spoiled (we won't spoil it), and there's obviously been youtube footage of the film's shooting (see image and link above). Perhaps they're trying to stem the tide by released the film's synopsis.
