While we're all looking forward to Thanksgiving and spending some time with family and friends, not to mention eating. It's looking like Mother Nature is going to throw an icy wrench into everyone's plans for Turkey Day. They're predicting freezing temps, snow, and ice!
Well, here we are day three of Mother Nature's frozen wonderland. It's been a crazy couple of days in Lawton, Fort Sill and it's not over yet! Things are slowly but surely starting to melt off, but we've got a ways to go before the roads are clear.
We'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of our City f Lawton workers and street crews for everything they've done for us over the past couple of days. They've been out night and day in all this madness spreading salt and sand to help improve the road conditions in Lawton, Fort Sill.
Will we ever see an end to Winter and all the snow and ice in Oklahoma? Mother Nature sure has been moody lately, not to mention unpredictable. We're experiencing yet another late February ice storm in the Sooner State, it's starting to become a habit.
Well, here we are in the middle of Snowpocalypse 2021 in Lawton, Fort Sill and Mother Nature isn't done with us yet. So far on the East side we've gotten somewhere between 5-7 inches. At least that's what I have in the middle of my front yard, unscientifically measuring the flattest part where there are no drifts.
Governor Stitt just declared a Winter weather state of emergency for all 77 Oklahoma counties. He just signed the executive orders this afternoon and it will be in effect statewide until weather conditions improve. Oklahoma is expected to get extremely cold temperatures, snow, ice and all kinds of frozen precipitation over the next few days. At his time we're looking at a 80% chance of snow on Sunday, there's a 50% chance on Tuesday and 40% chance of snow on Wednesday. Temperatures will be well below freezing and even below zero for parts of the weekend and going into next week.
