This Abandoned Cemetery in Oklahoma is Haunted by the Ghosts of Outlaws!
There's an abandoned and hidden cemetery in Oklahoma that is rumored to be haunted by the spirits of outlaws. Back in the 1800s and early 1900s, it was a popular place to dump bodies and dispose of evidence.
It was also a hideout and gathering place for fugitives and cutthroats to meet up and plan their evil deeds. This place ranks high on the fear factor scale, there are tons of legends and ghost stories being told.

It's a really small town, with a population of around 400 to 450 or so. It may be small but it's home to the Winstar World Casino Resort. which is the largest casino resort of its kind in the world. People from all over visit and enjoy the small-town charm and atmosphere of Thackerville, OK. It really is a beautiful place.
In this same town, you'll find the near hidden, abandoned Brown Springs Cemetery. It's down the road about a mile from the Chickasaw Smokeshop on Brown Springs Road. It's unmarked so you'll have to know where you're going or get directions. There's a lagoon nearby that was formed by a natural spring called Brown Springs. You'll have to hike or walk to the cemetery from the road, it's not accessible directly off the road.

The now-abandoned cemetery is rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of outlaws. Allegedly there are unmarked graves everywhere and the lagoon or spring was used to dump bodies in. Some say there are more unmarked graves and mass graves at Brown Springs Cemetery than headstones and proper burial sites.
Not only bodies outlaws also supposedly buried loot and other treasure in the area and used the springs and lagoon as a hideout. Over the years ghost hunters and paranormal investigators have researched the cemetery and conducted various investigations. Those who have ventured into the cemetery, at least some of them, have reported seeing full body apparitions, shadow figures, and eerie light orbs and forms.

Along with that, some have stated that they've heard cries, screams, and other noises both at the cemetery and in the surrounding woods. There have even been times when people were told to leave and that they were unwelcomed by unseen voices. Even the sounds of horses and gunfire have been heard like the spirits of years past are charging across the broken-down drawbridge that's also on the property.
And those are just some of the stories being told about the abandoned Brown Springs Cemetery in Thackerville. I'm thinking sometime this summer I'll make the trip and check it out for myself. Plus, with the WinStar World Casino Resort right there, of course, I'll have to stay over and enjoy a mini-vacation while I'm at it, that's the plan. It's only about an hour and ten minutes away from Lawton, Fort Sill so why not!
