Where this past week’s ‘Arrow‘ installment “Suicide Squad” brought in the famous DC Comics team, next week’s all-new episode will similarly reference comic mythology with “Birds of Prey.” Helena Bertinelli (Jessica de Gouw) returns to Starling City once again in search of vengeance, only to find Oliver has a Canary on his side, in the full set of photos from next week’s episode.
We won’t expect Barbara Gordon’s Oracle to pop up anytime soon (though Batman characters aren’t exactly off limits anymore), but next week’s “Birds of Prey” pits the Huntress against the Canary (Caity Lotz) as Helena returns to Starling in search of her father, taking Laurel Lance and a number of others hostage until Oliver turns over her father. Judging by the extended trailer above, the police are none too thrilled, saying “if they’re wearing a mask, they get a bullet!”
Meanwhile, here’s what The CW had to say of next week’s “Birds of Prey”:
WHEN THE HUNTRESS MET THE CANARY — When Frank Bertinelli (guest star Jeffrey Nordling) is arrested, Oliver (Stephen Amell) knows it’s only a matter of time before his daughter, Helena, AKA The Huntress (guest star Jessica De Gouw), returns to town.
To make matters worse, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is picked to try Frank’s case, putting her right in the path of Helena. Oliver tells Sara (Caity Lotz) he will handle his ex-girlfriend, but when Helena takes hostages at the courthouse, including Laurel, the Canary will stop at nothing to save her sister. When The Huntress and Canary meet, an epic battle begins.
Meanwhile, Roy (Colton Haynes) realizes he needs to keep Thea (Willa Holland) safe, but doesn’t like the way he is forced to go about it.
No sign of Slade this week from what we can tell, though “Deathstroke” certainly seems to be waiting in the wings for the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out the full set of photos from next week’s “Birds of Prey” below, and give us your predictions for the latest ‘Arrow’ in the comments!
