We know there can only be one but did it have to be Ryan Reynolds? The erstwhile Green Lantern and Deadpool (and that guy from Blade) has officially signed on to star in Lionsgate’s ‘Highlander’ reboot after a few weeks of negotiation.
‘The Hangover 3′ is happening. Though ‘The Hangover, Part II’ was basically a remake of the original film and mostly disappointed critics, the sequel made a ton of money (it was the fourth highest grossing film of 2011) and WB and director Todd Phillips have been quietly planning the third and final installment. And, as it turns out, ‘The Hangover 3′ may be happening sooner than you thought.
Kristen Stewart has never been an actress known for her smoldering passion. Bella Swan, the character to which she’ll forever be linked, is a picture of repressed sexuality in the ‘Twilight‘ films. But like her ‘Twilight’ co-star (and current boyfriend) Robert Pattinson, Stewart is doing everything she can to break herself out of the mold cast by that popular franchise. Enter ‘On the Road.’
The Francis Ford Coppola-produced adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic just debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and while reviews on the movie are mixed, critics agree on one thing: this isn’t your little sister’s Kristen Stewart.
Cowabunga, dude! The mega-popular ’80s franchise ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ is ready to make a big return to movie theaters in advance of their upcoming 30th anniversary. Paramount, Nickelodeon and producer Michael Bay are teaming up to bring back the “Heroes in a Half-Shell” with an all new reboot of the classic series.
Disney’s upcoming movie, ‘Oz, the Great and Powerful’, boasts an A-list cast — Oscar nominees James Franco, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams plus Mila Kunis — and a storyline that will take audiences to the origin of the Wizard himself. But Warner Bros., who holds the rights to ‘The Wizard of Oz’ film, would like to put a stop to that film.
As we’re sure you’ve heard, pop superstar Whitney Houston passed away this weekend at the age of 48. She was beloved by fans across the world who were touched by her shimmering, powerful voice. She left a lasting impact on many: young, old, men, women, black, white, serial killers…
‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ is a real movie. And this is not, despite its ridiculous premise, something made on the cheap that will go direct-to-DVD. This is a big summer movie from Fox, produced by Tim Burton, directed by that guy who directed ‘Wanted’ and starring some familiar faces. Based on the first trailer, it could either be awesome or completely stupid – so which is it?
Twenty-three years ago, as ‘Back to the Future, Part II’ first hit theaters, kids everywhere got their first look at a toy from the future. It was the Mattel Hoverboard, the skateboard without wheels that uses futuristic technology to float inches above the ground. Rumors swirled in the ’80s and ’90s that the Hoverboard was real (rumors fueled by director Robert Zemeckis) but, alas, much to the disappointment of children everywhere, the Hoverboard was just another piece of movie magic.
But now, just three years shy of 2015 – the “future” of ‘Back to the Future, Part II” – Mattel has finally announced the Hoverboard for sale.
After WWII it took filmmakers almost 20 years to find a schlocky way to exploit the death of Adolf Hitler (see: 1969′s ‘They Saved Hitler’s Brain‘). Osama bin Laden hasn’t been dead a full year yet but his terrorist-plotation film is already upon us. Enter “Osombie.”
