‘Bates Motel’ Season 2 Picked Up at A&E

Bates Motel Season 2 Renewal
A&E

That Norman Bates may just turn out to be a killer yet. After airing three episodes of its 10-episode inaugural season, A&E has given an early check-in to ‘Bates Motel,’ renewing its new horror drama from ‘LOST‘ showrunner Carlton Cuse for season 2. The new drama has proved consistently creepy in its portrayal of a young Norman Bates, but will season 2 move the character any closer to his ‘Psycho’ counterpart? Get the inside scoop on ‘Bates Motel’s’ future inside!

The ‘Bates Motel’ has gone pretty ‘Psycho’ in just three episodes, but A&E’s latest decision is anything but. The network has officially issued a season 2 pickup for the ‘Psycho’ prequel drama, developing 10 new episodes of ‘Bates Motel’ to air in 2014. After the premiere episode garnered 4.5 million viewers, ‘Bates Motel’ proved the network’s highest-rated original drama debut.

“’Bates Motel’ has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal audience in its first few weeks,” said A&E President Bob DeBitetto. “With superb writing and exceptional acting, led by the critically acclaimed performances of Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore, we’re incredibly excited to see where Carlton and Kerry take Norma and Norman Bates next.”

In addition to Highmore and Farmiga as the titular Bates clan, the series also includes Max Thieriot as long-lost Bates brother Dylan, ‘LOST’s’ Nestor Carbonell as Sheriff Alex Romero, Mike Vogel as his deputy Zach Shelby, Olivia Cooke as Norman’s handicapped friend Emma Decody, and ‘The Last Airbender’s’ Nicola Peltz as high school it-girl Bradley.
