Geoff Tate Wants Face-to-Face Explanation From Queensryche Members

Things have definitely gotten ugly and litigious with Queensryche over the past few months, but ousted vocalist Geoff Tate says that it would be a good thing if both he and his former bandmates would have a sit-down conversation rather than having everything play out online and in the courts.

The vocalist recently taped an episode of VH1 Classic’s ‘That Metal Show,’ and co-host Eddie Trunk offered a quote from the interview that shows Tate unsure of what happened and why.

Tate says, “I’d like to sit in a room with those gentlemen and have them tell me face-to-face what the situation is. Explain their actions. I’d like to know and actually understand their point of view. I’d like to see them talk to me rather than through the Internet. Communication is a big part of any relationship, right? If nobody’s talking, then nothing’s getting settled. My door is open.”

Trunk states in an online posting that they were able to ask Tate the tough questions about the split and the singer didn’t dodge any of them. He adds, “He was honest in his assessment of what went down from his perspective.” The episode of ‘That Metal Show’ in question will air on VH1 Classic Aug. 25.

The two sides have had a very public back-and-forth that started with rumors of an alleged physical confrontation between Tate and other band members, followed by the decision to play Queensryche songs with new singer Todd La Torre under the name Rising West and then eventually announcing that the band was ousting Tate.

The singer, in turn, took legal action against the band and they responded in kind. However, Tate’s initial attempt to gain an injunction the band using the name for touring purposes was denied in a recent court ruling. Even with the decision made, there are still other issues, such as the band’s recent claims that the Tate family has locked them out of their social networking websites.

In the midst of all the turmoil, both sides have found the time to be creative, with Tate finalizing a solo record and Queensryche beginning to work on music with La Torre on vocals.
